2019 Bay Area Hoops Breakdown Showcase

One of the most well-organized events in a series of events that take place every fall, The Breakdown Showcase took place the weekend of September 21, 2019 in Tampa, Florida at the Carrollwood Day School. Reggie Burke and his Bay Area Hoops/Big County Preps Staff have built this event from the ground up and from year to year it continues to grow with some of the best talent in the Tampa Bay and Southwest Florida area.

Here’s a list of a few of the standouts we had a chance to see on Saturday:

2022 6’5 G Joshua Watkins (Brandon/Showtime Ballers) – Really good athlete with a motor that’s always running. Made plays using his high activity level on both ends of the court.

2020 6’3 G Deondre Early (St. Pete HS/Brevard Bulls) – He is a speedy and crafty PG with good size, IQ, and passing ability when he breaks down the defense.

2021 6’2 PG Deon Brown (Bayshore Christian)- Displayed his all-around shooting ability from behind the line.

2021 6’6 F Matthew Lentz (Durant/Team Parsons)- A tough, gritty rebounder who did a good job of battling in the paint and finishing.

2021 6’7 F Ty’Rion Denson (Daytona Mainland)- Despite having the size and agility of an NFL football player, he has the outside touch from deep of basketball player.

2023 6’5 F Blaise Wallace (Maclay School)- This versatile youngster will make a great impact for his varsity team. He handles, rebounds, scores, and defends the ball well to only be a freshman.

2022 6’7 F CJ Hawkins (Tampa Berkeley Prep)- His time and effort in the gym has begun to clearly payoff as he continues to develop his perimeter game.

2023 6’5 G Harvey Wilson (Bayshore Christian/1 Family) – Another one of the young players in the area with a bright future because of his versatility.

2020 6’7 F BJ Harris (Lake Region HS/ Florida Xclusive) – Long and active on the glass, he made an impact in every game rebounding the ball on both ends of the floor.

2020 6’7 F Nicholas Strachan (John Paul II/GameSpeed Elite) – A physical player who is effective as a secondary ball handler, a rebounder, and physical defender

Sourcehoops looks forward to next year’s event being even bigger and better as the event continues to draw players from all over the State of Florida. We will continue to uncover some of the hidden talents in the Tampa Bay and Southwest Florida area.
