City of Palms Classic – Ontario Crestwood Prep vs Bradenton Victory Rock Prep

Crestwood comes from our neighbors to the north while Victory Rock has an easy drive down I-75.  Playing in the consolation round of the Signature Series, both teams are looking to get their firs win in Fort Myers.

VRP took an early lead thanks to a bucket inside and a three from Yousef Abdullah.  Crestwood responded with back-to-back baskets from Jordan Dixon to make the score 5-4 in favor of VRP with just over four minutes to play.  After a transition basket for VRP from Jamal Jacobs, Crestwood took a lead after a dunk inside by Romad Dean and a bucket from Elijah Fisher.  VRP got a pair of baskets inside from Bronson Borlace and Markwan Adams to lead by three, 11-8, with just under two minutes to play in the first quarter.  However, Crestwood took a 12-11 lead into the second quarter after a pair of free throws from Dean and a transition basket from Fisher.

VRP scored first in the second quarter to grab back the lead.  It was at that point that Crestwood took control, outscoring VRP in the quarter 24-5 to take a 36-18 lead at the break.  VRP just could not get good looks to fall and Crestwood had great success getting shots in close.

Victory Rock was able to get things going in the third quarter.  Down 40-23 with just over two minutes gone in the period, VRP went on an 8-0 run to get back within nine at 40-31 with 4:10 left in the period.  The teams would trade baskets but Crestwood pushed their lead to twelve at 46-34 after a transition basket from Dean with thirty seconds left in the quarter.  VRP was able to counter with a bucket inside from Borlace to make it a ten point game going into the final quarter, 46-36.

A three from Dean got Crestwood’s lead back to double-figures at the start of the fourth.  VRP didn’t quit and made a run, twice getting to within nine points, the last time being 53-44 with 4:53 left in the contest.  At that point, Crestwood put the game away with an 11-4 run, making the score 64-48 with two minutes left in the contest.  VRP would ultimately fall by the score of 68-56.

Crestwood Prep was led by both Fisher and Dean with 22 points each while Cross had 14 points.

VRP got 22 points from Borlace and 12 points from Adams.
