15U NOTABLES FROM THE OTR MEMORIAL DAY CLASSIC

Henry Thomas, MBJ 3SSB 15U: A 6’1 freshman from Orlando Christian Prep, his lefty “push” shot may not be textbook but it goes down with consistency.  Thomas is a good athlete that moves well without the ball, a good rebounder for his size, and puts in substantial effort on the defensive end.

Jordan Smith, Florida Rebels 15U: A 6’6 freshman at Southeastern Prep in Orlando, Smith stood out with his size, athleticism and skill level.  He made shots on both sides of the arc, was quick to rebounds, and was swift down the floor in transition.  Smith covers ground quickly on defense, can step out on the perimeter and defend smaller players, and will block/challenge/change shots in the lane when the opportunity presents itself.

Torre Washngton, SE Elite 3SSB 15U: A 6’5 freshman at Port St. Lucie Treasure Coast, he is a bit undersized to play inside but his energy, athleticism, and effort more than make up for it.  Washington scores the ball well around the basket on putbacks and cuts inside, out rebounds bigger opponents at both ends of the court and has the physical tools and mental makeup to defend multiple positions.

Ruot Riak, MBJ 3SSB 15U: A 6’9 freshman at Southeastern Prep in Orlando, Riak is thin but athletic and plays with a high motor.  He runs the floor, rebounds out of his area at both ends, protects the basket, and has the ability to step out and defend on the perimeter.  Skills and strength will come in time for Riak.  His best basketball is ahead of him.

Jah’mir Wallace, Florida Rebels 15U: A 6’4 freshman at Bartow, Wallace is simply a tough cover.  He is big and strong enough to overpower smaller defenders while agile, quick and skilled enough to get past bigger defenders.  Wallace scores well once in the paint but is also a willing and capable passer to teammates for open shots when the defense collapses on him.  With his physical gifts, he can pretty much play and defend any position on the court and is productive with or without the ball in his hands.

R.J. Evans, SE Elite 3SSB 15U: A 6’3 eighth grader at Tampa SLAM, Evans continues to prove to be a very good shooter on either side of the arc.  He is also a willing distributor, has good positional size and athleticism, and plays with intelligence both on and off the basketball.  Evans is a tantalizing package of production and potential at an early age.
