This weekend brought the Hoop Exchange NextGen Spring Player Showcase to the campus of Southeastern Prep Academy in Maitland just outside of Orlando. There were two sessions each day: morning for the Classes of 2027 & 2028 and afternoons for the Classes of 2025 & 2026. Here are some of the morning Sunday Standouts.
Henry Robinson, Deltona Pine Ridge: The 6’7 sophomore is long, athletic and has good skills. Seems to prefer perimeter shots to driving and challenging defenders at rim. He has a very high ceiling and essentially can be as good as he wants to be.
Kevin Edou, Orlando Olympia: The 6’5 sophomore just plays so hard! He doesn’t shy away from the dirty work and little things that impact games. He rebounds out of his area at both ends and is an athletic and active defender. His perimeter skills continue to evolve.
Whitfield Bynoe, Orlando Colonial: The 5’7 sophomore is small but knows how to play, even in this sometimes chaotic environment. He is solid with the basketball, makes good pass vs. shot decisions and doesn’t complicate things with wasted dribbles or unwise passes.
Isaiah Jenkins, Port Charlotte: The 6’3 sophomore is a good athlete with a strong frame. He plays bigger than his size but has good perimeter skills. Jenkins impressed by hitting shots off the dribble and rebounding well in a crowd.
Chudier Diew, Coconut Creek North Broward Prep: Listed as a 6’9 member of the 2029 Class, Diew is long, athletic, and has decent skills for a player his size and age. He runs the floor, rebounds at both ends and rejects shots on defense. It will be interesting to track his progression over the next four years.
Branden Sharpe, Fort Lauderdale Westminster Academy: The 6’5 freshman is a good athlete that gets down the floor very fast in transition. He has a good touch around the basket and scores well inside the arc. Sharpe is an active, out of area rebounder at both ends of the court.
Jonathan Watts, Orlando Olympia: The 6’7 sophomore is athletic, skilled, and can play inside and out. He has good ball skills and an improving perimeter shot. Watts is a versatile defender and has a high ceiling to maximize his potential.
Kyle Blair, Oviedo: The 6’10 sophomore moves well for his size. He rebounds his area, challenges shots and has enough athleticism to dunk putbacks. Seems to fancy himself as a perimeter player but there is much work to be done in that area.
Cayden Daughtry, Fort Lauderdale Westminster Academy: The 6’0 sophomore dominates games with his basketball IQ, high skill level in all the fundamental areas, and feel for the game. Clearly understands how to manufacture shots he can make, whether drives or jumpers, instead of settling for creating space to get off a shot. Daughtry is a high-level floor general and active defender.
Jahmai Henry, Coral Springs: The 6’3 freshman is a good athlete and impressive perimeter shooter. He rebounds well for his size, is an acceptable ball-handler and puts in effort on the defensive end of the floor.
James Nowells, Orlando Olympia: The 6’2 sophomore is a strong-bodied guard that is tough to stop when he gets going downhill. Nowells is a streaky shooter that makes enough perimeter shots on either side of the arc to be respected. He uses his strength well on the defensive end of the court.
Bishop Wenze, Orlando Olympia: The 6’7 sophomore is active and athletic with improving perimeter skills. He scores well around the basket, rebounds, and runs the floor. He has the foot speed and quickness to defend smaller players on the perimeter.
