Class of 2029 & 2030 Notables from the Fall Festival

We finalize our coverage of the Fall Festival by taking a look at some of the “young guns” in the sophomore and freshman classes that made an impact.

Delan Montgomery, Hialeah Mater Lakes: The 6’5 sophomore shot the ball well from distance.  Montgomery has a good frame, developing strength, and is an active rebounder and defender.

Caio Leopoldo, Hialeah Mater Lakes: The 6’6 sophomore has some inside/outside versatility to his game.  Leopoldo scored well off the bounce, hit some perimeter shots, made an impact on the offensive glass, and was active in the passing lanes.

Gavin Youmans, Fleming Island: The 6’4 sophomore is strong and skilled.  Though we were only able to watch the game for a half, it was clear that Youmans is a confident scorer and creator for himself and teammates.  He scores well inside the arc and is quick to get the ball to open teammates for a good shot.

Kivory Jones, Jacksonville Andrew Jackson: The 6’0 sophomore rang up a number of three-pointers in a Saturday evening game.  Jones got those shots in the flow of the offense as well as in transition.  He is quick with the ball and moves his feet well on the defensive end of the court.

Avery Jones, Gainesville Oak Hall: The 6’6 (likely bigger) sophomore has excellent court vision, good passing instincts, and the ability to score from various angles and distances.  Jones will grab a rebound, push the ball, and distribute or score on the same possession.  He also is a good rebounder and surprising shot blocker for his size.

Herbert Agamba, Haines City Jordan Christian: The 6’9 sophomore got some national notoriety this summer with SE Elite and his athleticism, explosiveness, and energy were all on display Sunday.  Agamba is very quick off the floor, has great length, and finishes with power around the basket.  He is a rim-runner in transition and rim protector on defense.

Bryce Batan, Orlando Edgewater: The 6’5 sophomore surprised a bit with his consistent perimeter shooting.  Batan made middies and threes, keeping defenders off balance.  He also found some success driving to the basket.  Batan played with purpose and passion on defense.

Isaiah Bridges, Pompano Beach Highlands Christian: The 6’5 lefty freshman likes to take defenders off the dribble to the basket, frequently spinning to his left to get the defender on his hip and then lofting a soft shot to score.  Bridges has good ball-handling skills and is quick to locate open teammates in transition and on drives to the basket.

Julian Beita, Pompano Beach Highlands Christian: The 6’9 freshman showed much promise.  He moves well, rebounds his area, and converts his opportunities around the basket, generally on putbacks or dropoffs.
