Willie Piggott, Team Speights 17U: A 6’4 junior out of Tampa Catholic, Piggott is wired to score and a lot of fun to watch. He has a wide array of dribble moves that create either space for an accurate perimeter shot on either side of the arc or get by the defender to score craftily at the basket. Piggott is very athletic, helps out on the glass, and covers ground quickly on defense.
Justin Roman, SE Elite 3SSB 17U: A 6’5 junior at the Academy of Central Florida in Orlando, Roman is a “chemistry major” in that he blends in and produces via rebounds, help-side defense, secondary ball-handling vs. pressure, and quickly moving the ball to open teammates. Roman typically scores in transition and drives or perimeter shots against unsuspecting defenders. He rebounds well at both ends against bigger opponents.
Willie Burnett, Team Breakdown 17U: A 6’4 junior at West Oaks Academy in Orlando, Burnett is a crazy-good scorer anywhere across half-court. He has an innate ability to know when to go by his defender to score at the basket or pull up for a reliable jumper on either side of the arc. Burnett is a good athlete, capable defender, and plays with infectious enthusiasm.
D’hani Miller, MBJ Elite 3SSB 17U: A 6’2 junior at Montverde Academy, Miller plays with great pace and understanding of the game. He will push the pace when the opportunity presents itself and slow the game down and direct traffic when necessary. Miller has developed into a consistent three-point shooter. When driving the ball, he generally looks for teammates first but has proven the ability to score in traffic should he choose to do so. Miller is a solid defender both on and off the ball as he does a good job of staying in front of the dribbler, is disruptive in the passing lanes, and alert to take charges.
Terrell James, Showtime 17U: A 6’0 junior out of Oviedo, James plays with a high basketball IQ and makes good decisions with the basketball when playing up-tempo as well against a set defense. He has deep range on his shot, hits floaters in the lane to finish off drives, and finds open teammates for good shots. James has quick hands and feet on defense, is very active in guarding the basketball and is quick to double-team unsuspecting opponents to force turnovers.
Toby Lane, Team Speights 17U: A 5’10 junior from Santa Fe Catholic in Lakeland, Lane is strong and solidly built but is also quick with the ball and makes excellent decisions on the move. He doesn’t look to score but he can if need be, and doesn’t shy away from taking shots in pressure situations. Lane is crafty as a finisher at the basket as well as a defender, coming with steals, tips, and deflections at an unusually high rate. He also rebounds well for his size, demonically defends the basketball, and has yet to get beat to a 50/50 ball within his proximity.
Martay Barnes, SE Elite 3SSB 17U: A 6’2 sophomore at the Academy of Central Florida, Barnes has an extra gear (maybe two) that few others have. He pushes the pace, is quick to the basket against set defenses, and finishes creatively at the rim. Barnes will knock down perimeter shots if defenders play too far off. He uses his speed and quickness well on defense. Barnes is difficult to get past, forces mistakes, and is quick to transform turnovers into points.
Jayden Joseph, Team Breakdown 17U: A 6’2 junior at West Oaks Academy in Orlando, Joseph is a scoring point guard that can be streaky from deep but must be respected as once the shot starts dropping it will continue to do so. Joseph pushes the pace at every opportunity, gets to the basket and scores with a variety of finishing moves, and looks to get the ball inside if his drive option is taken away. With long arms and fast feet, Joseph is a solid on-ball defender.
A.J. Williams, MBJ Elite 3SSB 17U: A 6’7 junior at DME Academy, Wiliams is a long athlete with bounce that provides both production now and upside potential for the next level. He is quick off the floor to the ball on the offensive glass, fast down the court in transition and a lob threat at all times. Williams can put the ball on the floor to score consistently off one or two dribbles from the high post and short corner areas. He covers a lot of area quickly on defense and can step out and defend smaller players on the perimeter should the need arise.
Isaac Buckley, Showtime 17U: A 6’5 junior from Lake Howell in Winter Park, Buckley’s strength, athletic ability, and aggressiveness make him a tough cover. He can overpower defenders to score at the rim and also has a respectable perimeter shot should the defense overplay him for the drive. Buckley rebounds well in traffic, finishes above the rim, and can guard a variety of positions on the floor.
