2025-26 Inside/Outside Combos

Balance.  The legendary John Wooden stated this is one of the most important factors for basketball success.  With the right mix of interior scoring and outside shooting, teams can make it a long night for opposing defenses.  With that in mind, we look at some duos that should give opponents cause for concern.

Orlando Oak Ridge

6’9 SR Tim Winkler – 6’3 SR Donovan Williams

This will be Winkler’s season to shine.  He’s long, athletic, runs the floor, and is a lob threat at all times.  Williams has deep range and excellent scoring skills but is also generous when it comes to distributing the basketball.

Sarasota HS

6’7 SR David Young – 6’2 JR Johnny Lackaff

Young has wide shoulders, a strong frame, and knows how to use his physical gifts to carve out space to score and rebound.  Lackaff is a high-IQ shooter with range, not shy about challenging defenders at the rim and seemingly has a knack for coming up with timely buckets.

Fort Lauderdale Stranahan

6’9 SR Isaiah Brown – 6’0 JR Damari Foster

Brown continues to develop rapidly as an interior scoring option.  He has some basic but effective post moves, catches the ball and scores reliably on the move, and is very active on the offensive glass.  Foster is a pass-first, but not pass-only, point guard that will stretch the defense to give Brown some room to operate inside.

Tampa Catholic

6’7 SR K.J. Morgan – 6’5 SR Willie Piggott

Morgan evidently has college options on the gridiron but he is no slouch on the hardwood.  Strong and bouncy, he gets to rebounds quickly, is potent in ball-screen action, and will overpower smaller opponents around the rim.  Piggott is a tremendous scorer from all three levels, able to create his own shot against a variety of defenders.

Windermere Prep

6’7 SR Connor Corris – 6’5 SR Brandon Bass

Corris has really come along in the last year.  Effective from fifteen feet and in as either a driver or spot-up shooter, he is also a rim runner in transition and has a knack for putting back the missed shot of teammates.  Bass, an FSU commit, has great range on his shot, scores well on straight-line drives and in transition and has improved his passing skills.
