Kevin Edou, SE Elite 3SSB 16U: The 6’5 sophomore from Orlando Olympia continues to be a work-in-process regarding his perimeter shooting. Edou more than makes up for it in many other areas. He is a volume rebounder, an active and harassing defender with good anticipation instincts, and excels at finishing in transition. Edou scores well at the basket via short drives or cuts into the lane and quickly getting up a shot once he receives the ball.
Kade Manley, MBJ Elite 3SSB 16U: A 6’0 sophomore from Daytona Beach Mainland, Manley is a knock-down perimeter shooter with deep range. He proved this weekend that he can make that shot off either the catch or the dribble. Manley is surprisingly strong with his drives to the basket. He is quick to move the ball to teammates and relocate for a return pass for a better shot. Manley has the ability to play either guard spot.
Cameron Wesley, Wellington Wolves 16U: The 6’4 sophomore from Wellington looks and plays bigger than his height. Wesley has very good footwork and touch in the paint, scoring with either hand in tight spaces. He also showed that he can step out and score while facing the basket. Wesley rebounds well at both ends, moves well without the ball and has a good feel for the game.
Nolan Nelson, Jet Academy 16U: A 6’9 sophomore at Creekside near St. Augustine, Nelson is well-built, physical, and a good athlete. He runs, rebounds, scores inside and makes enough perimeter shots to force defenders away from the basket. Defensively he is more of a shot changer than shot blocker, but Nelson is adept at playing physically without fouling. There is a chance that he may go the gridiron route for college but as a high school hooper he is quite a load to handle.
“Skoot” Donald, Showtime 16U: The 6’0 sophomore out of Tampa Catholic is a point guard that makes threes as well as gets to and scores at the rim. Donald is solid with the ball vs. pressure, keeps his teammates involved, and has a good feel for the game. Defensively he moves his feet well, anticipates the passing lanes, and keeps his hands active in digging at the dribble.
Michael Vilmeanay, Dor5 16U: A 5’10 sophomore from Riviera Prep in Miami, Vilmeanay is a high-level shooter with deep range off the catch as well as the dribble. He has a solid frame, is strong with the basketball, and routinely makes tough shots in traffic at the basket. Vilmeanay plays with infectious enthusiasm which elevates the play of his teammates.
Anthony Brown, 1 Family Pro 16U: A 6’5 sophomore at Boca Ciega outside of St. Petersburg, Brown is strong, athletic, and positionless. It is almost as if you can wind him up and he goes out and makes plays at both ends of the floor. Brown is a strong driver and finisher, makes open perimeter shots, gets putbacks, and gets ahead of the defense to finish in transition. He makes good decisions with the ball, is a productive rebounder at both ends and has the ability to defend in the post as well as on the perimeter.
Johnny Lackaff, SE Elite 3SSB 16U: The 6’2 sophomore out of Sarasota HS is very productive in his ability to knock down three-point shots as well as distribute the ball to teammates for good shots. Lackaff can be considered “selective” when taking the ball to the basket, but more often than not will score, earn a trip to the free throw line, or both. He is a good positional defender that works hard when guarding the basketball.
Joshua Hernandez, MBJ Elite 3SSB 16U: A 5’9 sophomore at Central Florida Christian Academy in Orlando, Hernandez proved to be very quick with the ball and tough for defenders to stay in front of. He pops out of change-of-direction moves and quickly gets into the lane. Once there, Hernandez keeps his head up, quickly making the decision to get a teammate the ball and an open shot or score with a floater over hesitant defenders. The lefty demonstrated deep range on a consistent shot from behind the arc.
Canaan Gideon, Wellington Wolves 16U: The 6’1 sophomore at Wellington is a strongly built and physical guard. He makes open perimeter shots but excels at overpowering defenders on his way to scoring at the basket. A good athlete, Gideon rebounds well for his size, has good court awareness and is always alert to get the ball to cutting teammates and is an active and physical defender.
Zain Majeed, Jet Academy 16U: A 6’9 sophomore at Bradenton IMG Academy, Majeed is a decent athlete with a strong body that does his best work in the paint. He gets his points on putbacks and other types of opportunity baskets. Majeed is a physical defender, moves well up the floor, and owns his rebounding area at both ends of the court.
Carter Oden, Showtime 16U: A 6’1 sophomore out of Oviedo, Oden is a strong and athletic guard that plays with great energy. He relentlessly attacks the defense, scores through contact, and is quick to pass the ball out to open shooters on the perimeter when help comes off them. Oden looks to distribute the ball, rebounds well for his size at both ends of the floor, and is an active and aggressive defender both on and off the basketball.
Jalil Hill, 1 Family Pro 16U: A 6’9 eighth grader out of Jacksonville Providence, Hill is a potential monster in the making. He moves well, can score facing the basket, relentlessly pursues rebounds and challenges shots in the paint. Hill is an above average athlete for his size and age. As he physically matures, his strength, speed, and athletic ability will increase as well. He produces well already playing two levels up so there is every reason to be excited about his potential both near and long-term.
