Class 4A completed its state tournament Thursday night with Fort Lauderdale Stranahan hoisting the championship trophy. Here are our picks for the All-Tournament Team.
Christian Yeargin, Fort Lauderdale Stranahan (MVP): The 6’3 junior was consistently productive in his two games in Lakeland. In the semi-finals, he scored 20 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. In the two-point title game victory, Yeargin went for 21 points, 6 rebounds and 4 steals.
Eson Simeon, Fort Lauderdale Stranahan: The 5’10 senior led the Dragons in the semi-finals with a stat sheet-stuffing 21 points, 6 rebounds and 3 steals in the semi-finals. His 6 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists in the championship game may appear to be a step back, but Simeon got the assist on the three-point shot that got Stranahan to within three points, then grabbed the offensive rebound on a potential game-tying free throw and found a teammate underneath for the winning basket.
Damari Foster, Fort Lauderdale Stranahan: The 5’10 sophomore was a big contributor in both the semifinals and the title game. In the semis, Foster tossed in 15 points and dished off for 5 assists. In the championship game, Foster knocked down 18 points and had another five assists.
Isaiah Medina, St. Petersburg Gibbs: The 7’0 senior and DePaul commit had a pair of stellar games for the Gladiators. He put up a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds in the semi-final. He tallied similar numbers in the title game, scoring 16 points and hauling in 5 rebounds.
Jacob Daniels, St. Petersburg Gibbs: The 6’0 junior did everything possible in the team’s effort to repeat as state champs. His 13 points and 4 rebounds in the semis was just a taste of things to come. In the final, he put up 19 points, grabbed 5 rebounds, dished out 5 assists, garnered 3 steals and rejected a pair of shots.
