Class 5A completed its state tournament last week with Pompano Beach Ely hoisting the championship trophy. Here are our picks for the All-Tournament Team.
Kaleb Corbitt, Pompano Beach Ely (MVP): The 6’8 junior was a model of consistency and production in Lakeland. In the semi-finals, Corbitt came up with a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds and added 3 blocked shots. In the title game, he led the way with 19 points and 6 rebounds.
Dylon Hanna, Pompano Beach Ely: The 6’2 senior filled up the state sheet in the semis, piling up 10 points, 4 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 steals in the victory. Hanna was at it once again in the championship game, notching 8 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists.
Maddox Palmer, Ponte Vedra: The 6’5 junior paced the Sharks in scoring in both the semi-final and final game. He scored 18 points to go along with 4 rebounds then upped that in the championship game with 20 points, 5 rebounds and 2 steals.
David Sanchez-Barrera, Ponte Vedra: The 6’0 senior did everything possible in the team’s effort to become state champs. DSB put up 13 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals in the semi-final. He scored 14 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in the championship game.
Angelo Moton, Leesburg: The 6’6 junior was the main weapon for Leesburg in the semi-finals as he scored 16 points and grabbed 6 rebounds.
