The Rural Classification completed its state tournament last week with Hawthorne hoisting the championship trophy. Here are our picks for the All-Tournament Team.
Chaison Wilson, Hawthorne (MVP): The 6’5 senior was too much for either Graceville or Crossroad Academy to handle. He was the top scorer in both Hawthorne’s semi-final win and the championship game, scoring 16 points each time out. Wilson grabbed four steals in each contest and in the finals corralled a game-high nine rebounds.
Dacarion Debose, Hawthorne: The 6’1 senior put his fingerprints all over the semis and the title game. He tallied 14 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists in the semi-final win over Graceville. His title game performance against Crossroad Academy was more subdued with 4 points, 3 rebounds and 6 assists.
Leland Johnson, Hawthorne: The 6’3 senior seemingly flip-flopped production with teammate Debose. Johnson’s semi-final numbers of 6 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and 4 steals pale a bit in comparison to the 15 points and 5 rebounds he put up in the title game.
Jabari Boahen, Crossroad Academy: The 6’2 junior led Crossroad past Fort White primarily by going 10-16 from the foul line on his way to a team-high 12 points in a low scoring semi-final win. He also had 3 assists and 3 steals in the contest. Nobody scored double-digits for Crossroad in the finals but Boahen did what he could with 5 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 steals in the contest.
Tafari Moe, Fort White: The 6’3 senior put up 9 points and 9 rebounds in the semi-final loss to Crossroad Academy.
