As a coach, fan, scout, or interested observer, it is always a pleasure to watch guys that seemingly can score baskets at will.  We found a couple of those players this summer in a variety of age groups.  The following players stood out above the rest.

17U: Quincy Douby, BBD (Ball By Design) – The 6’5 product of Riviera Prep in Miami got a lot of notice on the Made Hoops Circuit with BBD.  He was praised for being able to get to his sweet spots on the floor to knock down jumpers on either side of the arc, attack the basket with a quick first step, and make tough shots at the rim with great body control and touch.  Douby needs few dribbles to create separation but is a more-than-competent shooter when closely contested.  He has versatility as well, showing his ability to run and initiate offense while not losing any aggression to score the basketball.

16U: A.J. Jenkins, Showtime Ballers – The 6’0 guard out of Wiregrass Ranch played on both the 16U and 17U levels with Showtime.  He consistently put up good numbers regardless of level.  Jenkins excels at attacking the basket off the dribble.  He scores well with either hand, explodes out of his change of pace/change of direction dribble moves and has a quick step to initially get by defenders.  Jenkins has a reliable shot on either side of the arc and makes at a reasonable off both the catch and the dribble.  He has been known to go on personal runs of four straight buckets or more during high-level contests.

15U: Desean Clayton, Nightrydas – The 6’5 wing out of Fort Lauderdale Westminster Academy was one of the top scorers for the team, getting them into the Peach Jam 15U tournament.  For the EYBL season, Clayton averaged just over 15 points a contest.  He plays with great confidence, exploits defender’s mistakes, and has a high-level combination of skills, athleticism, and basketball IQ.  He was listed #48 in the class in Rivals’ initial 2029 player rankings.
