MORE WEEKEND RESULTS
We couldn’t attend all the events throughout the weekend but we managed to get results and stats from tournament directors and travel team coaches of a few Florida teams who attended regional and national events. Please email all results, news and recruiting information to info@sourcehoops.com.
E1T1 Polk 17u
E1T1 Polk won the 17U gold championship of the King James Southern Exposure by defeating Dedicated Sports 65-55. Senior wing Alante Fenner of Lake Wales HS led E1T1 with 21 points in the championship game.
Florida Assault/Showtime Ballers
FASB traveled to North August, Georgia/Aiken, South Carolina and competed in the super pools of the King James Southern Exposure event. The 16u went 4-0 led by Dwayne Bacon and Corey Saunders. The 17u was 3-2 for the weekend. Rashawn Powell had games of 20, 24, 15, 29 and 41. Junior wing Ayinde Sprewell and senior guard Anthony Thompkins reportedly played well.
E1T1 South Blue
6’4 WF Michael O’Conner of Boca Raton HS had games of 45 & 28 points at the KJSE. “He is the hardest working kid I have ever coached and he is a great student,” said Coach Eric Newsome of E1T1.
E1T1 South Red
6’11 Amidah Brimah of Monsignor Pace and 6’8 Vieux Kande of Sagemont averaged double digits in points and rebounds according to Coach Newsome most of the weekend. He also mentioned that 6’6 WF Javaris Jenkins of Deerfield Beach played well.
Some of the schools that kept an eye on his squads were Murray St., UCF, Winthrop, Samford, FAU, North Florida, Georgia State to name a few.
Coach Newsome also confirmed that Andre Horne, Ivan Canete and Windale Glanton were not committed to FIU anymore.
D12 Warriors 17u
We spoke with head coach Carlos Morales who informed us that the Warriors finished 9th out of 96 teams at Pitt Jam Fest. They defeated Sam Rines, PYO, NEBC & Baltimore Elite. The Warriors fell to Atlanta Xpress in bracket play.
Gold Coast 17u
Gold Coast fell in the Elite 8 to a loaded DC Assault team at the Pitt Jam Fest. They finished 3-1 for the weekend. Gold Coast defeated New Heights, VA Assault & Philly Pride. 6’4 Cedric Hankerson scored 28 points in the contest verses Philly Pride. Sam Singer scored 15 points and dished out 7 assists in a match up with UNC commit Nate Britt of DC Assault. Gold Coast gained dividends from the addition of 6’7 forward Romas Marcenkevicuz who was tough in the paint all weekend.
RMF Hurricanes 17u
The Hurricanes made the long journey to the steel city and finished 2-2 for the weekend. They dropped their first contest against BSA (PA) 46-47 on a half court buzzer beater. They bounced back to defeat U Play (Canada) 61-55. Zachary Johnson (2014) scored 19 points, Dallas Cameron (2013) added 17 points and Malijhum McCrea (2013) tallied 8 points, 15 rebounds and 10 blocks in the win. The Wave Basketball Club (VA) defeated the Hurricanes 66-57 before they closed out the weekend with a win over Franklin All Stars (MI). Darion Allen (2013) a 6’3 guard from Ely HS scored 21 points in the win over the Michigan squad, connecting on five three-pointers. Coach Dubuisson also mentioned 6’5 wing Javonte Forbes of Miramar HS rebounded well and displayed his athleticism with some big time dunks. Dallas Cameron of Ely HS picked up an offer from American University this weekend.
